Revision as of 00:33, 28 June 2016

John Dougall is the Utah State Auditor and a former member of the Utah House of Representatives and is up for reelection in the November 2016 Election.

He is well rated by the Republican Liberty Caucus and poorly rated by the Planned Parenthood Action Council of Utah.[1]

Sponsored the wildly unpopular HB 477 as a legislator in 2011. The bill sought to exempt the legislature from certain record disclosure requirements and also rasied fees associated with record requests.[2] Interestingly, though, he had earlier expressed a very opposite sentiments on the subject of record disclosure.[3] Putatively, the purpose of this bill was to address the potential problem of existing law forcing legislators to reveal personal information their constituents might communicate to legislators.[4] In connection with HB 477, Dougall has been accused of blocking public input.[5]

Has questioned the propriety of having the state comply with Obama's "Affordable Care Act".[6]

Has endorsed term limits.[7]

Endorsed Sophia DiCario in 2014.[8]
