Here's a letter I wrote to candidates for the 8 March 2011 election in Norwalk, California

I'm a Norwalk resident looking to get more insight into the candidates that I will need to choose between, so I'm emailing all of the candidates three questions to help me learn more about them.

What inspires you to seek a city council seat?

I have a friend who received a questionable citation for a parking violation in Norwalk, in the Metro parking lot and has contested the fine and, being unsuccessful, appealed the result. In both cases, a response took around 2 months, and no rationale was given for the decision. To appeal again now would cost money on top of the cost of the original fine, and since there appears to be no way to verify that the case is really being considered, my friend is likely to let it go (and may stop using the Metro). What are your thoughts regarding this scenario?

What do you think about the practice of home schooling?
